I count forty eight "x's" for stars interesting, since Arizona, the 48th, was not added until 1912. So perhaps this was done just a bit later or perhaps Edna was not perfect in her counting! Whatever the case, the X's feel pretty poignant at the moment, and the rich color, and slightly wavering bleeding edges on the stripes,
