I believe this piece dates from the first quarter of the 20th century and would have been made for the tourist market

The hearts and threads or “vines” connecting them are an icy white

Fine Hand-painted Japanese Composition Doll hand forged hook Very nicely doneI am not entirely certain if this doll is vintage or antique, but would think sometime 1920s 40s, and I think she is so lovely. Her head, forearms and lower legs are composition, sewn to a cloth torso which seems to be stuffed with sawdust, as there seems to be a tiny hole somewhere from which a tiny bit of it has come out. Some staining to her top and a little wear to the top of the arms, but overall very good condition, with braided hair on the top
