1920s German "Toilettez" Flip Open Surprise Clown with Mechanical Tongue old mechanical toy Paint loss/wear here and there

Paint loss/wear here and there are evident

Whoever assembled it did a pretty nice job

I’m pretty sure this was once part of a whirligig

but under magnification I believe they are some other metal and painted a brassy gold tone

This has lost some of its beading and some of the fancy wire that once entirely framed the mirror

1920s German "Toilettez" Flip Open Surprise Clown with Mechanical Tongue old mechanical toy Paint loss/wear here and thereI found this a great delight when I first open it, and continue to be delighted by it each time I do! 1920s German, with "Toilettez" embossed in gold on the front, I believe to suggest it would be a pocket mirror held inside. (Translation is basically "you groom.") But instead of your face, here this clown, whose eyes roll and big red tongue extends incrementally as you open it, until that tongue is all the way out. Great graphics and good fun! 3 9
