British P1796 Heavy Cavalry Sabre n/s Oriental but the exact regiment isBritish P1796 Heavy Cavalry Sabre. An iconic Napoleonic era sabre, which has most likely seen service during the Peninsular War (1808 1814). The grip is a period wooden replacement, most likely done by the Portugese cavalry. Although not the original British grip, this is a period solution to damage from use, and does not affect its quality. The grip is very sturdy and fits the handle well. Both langets present, guard intact. No scabbard.
